American riders Jennie Brannigan, Hannah Burnett and Alyssa Phillips are currently facing a one-year suspension after testing positive for prohibited substances at the Ocala Jockey Club International, which was held from the 16th to the 19th November 2017 in Florida, US.
Hannah Burnett tested positive for Amphetamine, while Alyssa Phillips tested positive for both Amphetamine and Canrenone. Jennie Brannigan tested positive for Ritalinic Acid, Methylphenidate and Amphetamine.
Each of these substances is used for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy, which is what each of these riders were using it for.
The suspensions will be imposed from the date of the sample collection, which was conducted on the 18th of November 2017. All three athletes will be suspended from competing in any FEI and USEF official events and activities.
Each rider will be permitted to return to the sport after they have served their suspension time. The athletes are also required to undergo training on anti-doping and to attend various seminars on the matter.
