In this informative Health & Fitness video from the FEI, Vaulting stars Ali Divita and Mari Inouye provide us with some great fitness tips for equestrians.
 
In this episode, they show you some Yoga exercises, specifically for equestrian athletes, focussing on hip health. Yoga positions like the mountain pose, camel pose or the tree pose plus some extra stretching will bring you a good balance between stability and mobility.

Hip health is vital for riders, and Ali and Mari explain some of the issues experienced by those who are encountering problems.
“What we mean by hip health is a balance between stability and mobility,” Ali says. “While it might seem super fun to be able to do the splits, too much mobility can actually be an issue. At the same time too much tension or stiffness can lead to chronic or acute injury.
 
“We think this is the great foundation for all equestrian athletes to begin adding yoga into their practice.”
