Irish Olympic event rider Jonty Evans is in intensive care following a fall over the weekend on the CIC3* cross country course at Tattersalls International Horse Trials.
An update on the Team Ireland Equestrian Facebook page reads “Following further evaluation, Jonty Evans remains in a stable condition at Beaumont Hospital where his condition is being monitored and treated.”
The 46-year-old fell at the second part of the water complex. His horse, Cooley Rorkes Drift, was uninjured in the incident. Cooley Rorkes Drift was put up for sale by his owner last year, however Jonty managed to secure the horse via a much-publicised crowd-funding campaign — allowing him to retain the ride.
Our thoughts are with Jonty and we wish him a speedy recovery.
