Australian success at Hartpury
A strong contingent of Australian riders competed at Hartpury Festival of Dressage (4-9 July) in the UK, where CDI3* and CPEDI3* classes were on offer.
Australian dressage rider Jayden Brown had a very successful event with his team of horses, and highlights included podium finishes in the CDI3* Grand Prix Special, Freestyle and 6YO Young Horse Semi Final.
Jayden and WillingaPark Quincy B, a nine-year-old gelding by Quaterback out of a Desperados mare, scored 75.485% for third in the CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle, with the pair also achieving an impressive score of 69.804% in the CDI3* Grand Prix. It was only Quincy’s second international-level Big Tour competition and first CDI Freestyle test.

Jayden was also third with WillingaPark Miana in the
KBIS 6YO Young Horse Semi Final National Test on Saturday with 81% and is now qualified for the National Final.

Para dressage riders were also out in force at Hartpury, with Australians Stella Barton, Sharon Jarvis and Bridget Murphy riding borrowed horses whom they’d had very little time to familiarise themselves with! All three achieved exceptional results across the board.
Sharon Jarvis contested the Grand IV Grand Prix A, finishing eighth with Femma Lijbra (ZiZi Top x Zebulon) on 66.611% and 11th with Furst Crusador (Jazz x Rhodimant) on 65%. In the Grand IV Grand Prix B, Sharon was fifth with Furst Crusador on 68.378% and 10th with Femma Lijbra on 66.676%.
“To be amongst the place getters at this competition really means a lot to me,” said Sharon following the Grand Prix B tests. “Both horses tried really hard for me… It has been an absolute pleasure to ride these horses and be involved with all their connections. I have loved being a part of a fun Aussie team here, [it] has been great fun too.” Sharon Jarvis also rode Furst Crusador in the Freestyle, scoring 69.465% for sixth place.
The Grade II Grand Prix A class saw Bridget Murphy finish sixth with Delphdale Alice on 63.138% and seventh with Lyndhurst Soldier (Lovelyhill Cranborne Heights) on 62.621%. In the Grade II Grand Prix B, Bridget was sixth and seventh again, improving with both horses to score 65.933% with Delphdale Alice and 62.4% with Lyndhurst Soldier.
“I was feeling much better having got day one out the way, and it definitely translated into the work I got out of both Charlie and Alice [on day two],” said Bridget of her tests. Bridget also rode Delphdale Alice to a score of 67.707% and fifth place in their Freestyle.
Stella Barton competed in the Grade I, scoring 60.66% for ninth with Hera Buxton (Zamboucca) in the Grand Prix A test, and 62.167% for ninth in the Grand Prix B.
“I had such a lovely ride and Hera was more relaxed and on the job [the second day],” said Stella. “Competing at Hartpury Festival of Dressage has been such a wonderful experience that I will cherish forever.”
Amazing efforts by all three Australian para riders, and what an amazing experience!
