British dressage team announced for the European Championships

Great Britain has announced its dressage team for the 2023 FEI European Championships, which are set to take place in Riesenbeck, Germany from 5–10 September.
The team includes:
Charlotte Dujardin (38) based in Newent, Gloucestershire, with Carl Hester and Coral Ingham’s Imhotep (chestnut, gelding, 16.2hh, 9yrs, Everdale x Vivaldi, Breeder: T Huizing NED, Groom: Francesca Gorni).
Charlotte Fry (27) based in Den Hout, the Netherlands and originally from Scarborough, North Yorkshire, with Van Olst Horses’ Glamourdale (black, stallion, 16.3hh, 11yrs, Lord Leatherdale x Negro, Breeder: J Rodenburg NED, Groom: Richard Hauwaerts).
Van Olst Horses’ Everdale (black, stallion, 17.2hh, 13yrs, Lord Leatherdale x Negro, Breeder: P Kluytmans NED) will be a direct reserve for Charlotte.

Carl Hester (56) based in Newent, Gloucestershire and originally from Sark, The Channel Islands, with Fiona Bigwood, Penny Bigwood, Mette Bigwood and Anders Dahl’s Fame (bay, stallion, 16.2hh, 13yrs, Bordeaux 28 x Rhodium, Breeder: V.O.F Gerritsen NED, Groom: Lucy Scudamore).
Sandra Biddlecombe, Charlotte Dujardin and Lady Anne Evans and his own En Vogue (dark bay, gelding, 17hh, 14yrs, Jazz x Contango, Breeder: A Van der Goor NED) will be a direct reserve for Carl.

Gareth Hughes (52) based in Southam, Warwickshire with Julia Hornig, Rebecca Hughes, Ruby Hughes and his own Classic Briolinca (bay, mare, 16.2hh, 17yrs, Trento B x Royal Dance, Breeder: Febr van der Steen NED, Groom: Steph Sharples).

Andrew Gould (43) based in Horsham, West Sussex with Tatiana Skillman’s Indigro (black, stallion, 16.2hh, 10yrs, Negro x Jazz, Breeder: J Deenen NED, Groom: Nat Campbell)
Becky Moody (43) based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, with her own Jagerbomb (bay, gelding, 17.1hh, 9yrs, Dante Weltino x Jazz, Breeder: B Moody GBR, Groom: Kim Masson).
British Dressage International Director Judy Harvey commented: “Quite simply this is the ‘dream team’. We have possibly one of the strongest teams we have ever sent to an FEI European Championship. All four riders are medallists, and their horses are a fabulous blend of talent and proven ability. I am very excited to see how they fare; Not only is it a strong team but they will all be in the mix for individual medals too.”
Selection decisions are subject to the athletes and horses maintaining fitness and performance, and this list may be amended at any point up to 25 August 2023.
