Young riders shine at SIEC

The 2023 Australian Youth Dressage Championships (AYDC) took place at Sydney International Equestrian Centre (SIEC) from 7-9 July, with young riders from around the country in action.

The event saw champions crowned across the levels, from Preliminary to Big Tour, with competitors also having the opportunity to ride Freestyle tests.

The event caps off what has been a big few weeks at SIEC, with the Hawkesbury Dressage Festival running for nine days earlier this month (17-25 June). Many riders at the AYDC, including Big Tour Championship winner Kate Kyros, took the opportunity to familiarise their horses and gain competition experience at Hawkesbury ahead of the Championships.

The 2023 AYDC Champions were:

FEI Big Tour Championship (FEI U25 Grand Prix, 16-25 years): Kate Kyros and Chemistry

FEI Small Tour Championship (22-25 years): Daisy Fielding and Gartina

FEI Young Rider Championship (16-21 years): Bridgette Dalmau and Bon Jovi MH

FEI Junior Championship (14-18 years): Tia Rose McKenzie and Phenomenon

FEI Childrens Championships (12-14 years): Matia Hopwood and Clare Downs Arian Lledrith

FEI Pony Championship (12-16 years): Abby Weel and Reitlands Obama

Advanced Championship: Jade Wilkinson and Sharellen Gadarene

Medium Championship: Jade Wilkinson and Sharellen Gadarene

Elementary Championship: Brooke Gatt and Celestial

Novice Horse Championship: Sophie Walker and Niclins Park The Baron

Novice Pony Championship: Allesandra King-Andrews and TL Bravo

Preliminary Horse Championship: Paris Kellner and Greenwood Divine Show

Preliminary Pony Championship: Allesandra King-Andrews and TL Bravo

The next big event on the Australian dressage calendar will be the Australian Dressage Championships, scheduled to be run at Boneo Park from 11-15 October 2023.
